Count on Ten Frames - Up to 5

Learning to count with fun boxes and pictures!

What is a Ten Frame?

A ten frame is a special grid that helps us count and see numbers!
It has two rows with five boxes each, making ten boxes total. Today we'll just use the first five boxes to learn counting up to 5. The boxes help us see how many things we have without counting each one!

How to Use a Ten Frame

1️⃣ Look at the empty boxes

2️⃣ Count as you fill each box with one thing

3️⃣ Say the number when you're done

Let's Practice Together!

Parent Tips 🌟

  • Make it hands-on: Create a physical ten frame using an egg carton (cut to 5 sections) and small toys for counting practice.
  • Connect to daily life: Point out groups of 1-5 items (fruits, toys, steps) and ask your child to show that number on their fingers or a ten frame.
  • Keep it playful: Sing counting songs while pointing to each box, or have your child jump as they count each item in the frame.
